Genghis Khan motion picture
Genghis Khan will be reincarnated in his homeland. The movie, which is mainly fin aced by the Mongolian people, is the second biggest one to depict Genghis Khan on the screen. The movie cast and crew consist of the well-known artists of Mongolia, which raises the reputation of the movie and at the same time, the responsibility it carries for the society. The state honored actor Ts.Tumurbaatar is starring as Genghis Khan, which has been his dream role. In “under the ceaseless sky” another movie about Genghis Khan, he had portrayed Jamuha and received much praises from the audience and critics. Ts.Tumurbaatar said: I have been staying at home these days, isolating myself from the society and reflecting on my role. I have set strict rule for myself, not to socialize or to laugh. Chinggis Khaan’s best friend and the toughest foe Jamuha is being portrayed by P.Tserendagva. The respected and loved actor has promised to people that his Jamuha will be quite distinctive that previously portrayed ones. The autumn breeze has already arrived in Mongolia, especially so ni Khentii province where the movie is being filmed. However, the artists and actor have started their work in high spirit. Mongolia and it’s people, which had been united by Genghis Khan about 800 years ago, have once again united to reincarnate the great khan.
“Statue of Genghis Khan” complex and “13th century” National park
The Statue of Genghis Khan is being built not so far from Ulaanbaatar along with a historical Theme Park that translates the period of the great kings of Mongolia (such as Genghis Khan, Uguudei, Munkh and Khubilai) into our modern setting.
The main attraction of the park is that tourists would have the possibility to experience the culture of the nomads intimately. The historically accurate customs, freestyle and agricultural occupations of the nomads will be presented right before their eyes. The miniature 13th Century country is completely isolated within it’s border, leaving all the management and operational services outside the park. The visitors can enjoy ceremonies and sporting events that are organized traditionally every year. Foe example, wool brushing, procedures of making felt, ceremonies of sacrifice to the sky (which is normally organized only once every several years), female camel weeping, milking of mares, stamping foals, wedding ceremonies and the three manly sports. The “13th Century Park” complex will continue to develop and grow according to a plan until 2008.

“The Great Nation” photo contest and exhibition
In commemorating the 800th anniversary of Great Mongolian Empire, the art Gallery of Mongolia has announced a photo contest starting from October and the best and distinctive 80 works will be displayed for a public exhibition in December. The collection of photos will also be published within the next year. The photos will demonstrate the Mongolian traditions and customs, nomadic lifestyle: also the events surrounding the 800th year anniversary are brought to the viewers.
The Museum of the state history
Mongolian ancestry has a state history of over 2200 years. In the heart of where current Mongolia is situated, the powerful regime of the Huns had been established in 109BC, boarding with Hanhiad (current China). Ever since then, many states and empires had ruled in this country and the purpose of this museum is to display the historical developments of those states to the public. The Museum of the state history will be a virtual one fully equipped with the state of the art technology. By establishing this museum, the historical facts about the state prosperity and collapses will be exhibited to foreign and local travelers and visitors. At the same time, the scientific materials and resources concerning the important documents, contracts and historical evidences that are key components to the history of Mongolian state can be assembled. The visitors and researchers will be able to hear and view the historical facts in Mongolian, English, Japanese and German.
“Great Mongol” board game
Art Council of Mongolia is introducing the “Great Mongol” board game, which aimed to deliver knowledge and education on Mongolian History and culture through interactive game. Based on Genghis Khan’s life and the secret history of the Mongols, this game is developed in a play procedure of Monopoly, board game.
There are questions and answers, awards and punishments, which make the board game not only highly competitive and interesting, but also informative and educational. The board game has been released in July, 2006 during the Rainbow horse festival and furthermore ACM plans to introduce the English version of the “Great Mongol” board game soon. |
